Puka is a seriously cute four-year-old dog. Christine Hilberg rescued her from a homeless man in Los Angeles with her friend, Roxy. Puka has a cleft lip. When Roxy saw the dog on the street, she worried about the health of the dog and acted.
As Hilberg told Mashable, “[Roxy] pulled her car over, worried that Puka may need medical attention due to her cleft lip; [she] bartered with the homeless man and drove home.”
Roxy already had a few rescue animals, so she contacted Hilberg, who volunteers at No Kill L.A. and is also an old hand at bringing in rescue animals.
“Growing up, my family adopted all of our animals from friends, shelters, or off the streets,” Hilberg told Mashable. “Shelters all over the country are flooded with animals needing a second chance.”
Roxy gave Puka to Hilberg, and the two “have been inseparable ever since.”
But that’s all preamble. Here’s the cute part of the story. Puka is in love with Rocket Larry, who happens to be an African Sulcata tortoise. And Rocket Larry is in love with Puka.

Hilberg told Masable that she found Rocket Larry on a Craigslist ad from a reptile hoarder. He loves arugula, strawberries, dandelions, and, of course, Puka. Just look:
