If you’re a maven of mutts and a fan of the late, great TV show MacGyver, have we got a cool new dog accessory for you: Rescue Pet Collars.

This device looks quite stylish, but there’s more to it than meets the eye. It incorporates a parachute cord (aka paracord) that may be used as a life-saving emergency tow rope or tourniquet if you and/or your dog get into a tight spot. When deployed (unraveled), Rescue Pet Collars extend to one foot of cord per inch of braid, and they can hold as much as 550 pounds.

Here’s how one happy customer, Nick P, put his dog’s collar to work to secure cargo on his vehicle’s roof: “One time I was camping, and we were driving and the tent and some other camping gear fell off the roof … and the rope broke.
