Did you see that post about the grandmother who’s taking Instagram by storm with an unabashed approach to being sexy and single? Take that, stereotypes! And take that, beauty industry that tells women they can’t be beautiful once they’re older than 30! Baddie Winkle is my new Internet hero — I can only dream of being half the badass she is at 86 while I’m 29. Maybe when I’m older I too can reign the Internet with a sexy fist.
Similarly, these senior dogs are Instagram stars in their own right, demonstrating that even the eldest among us has the ability to embrace technology.
What is it about them? Is it their wisdom? Their frosted faces? Or the way they just don’t give a single fluff about the way their tongues hang out of their nearly toothless mouths? With age comes a certain license — a license to kick pups off your lawn, sniff butts, and have an occasional accident in the house with impunity.
1. Derek the dog
A Pekingese mix rescue hailing from my homeland of golden sunshine and sand, Los Angeles, Derek might have a little Ewok in his genes. It’s been said that at his venerable age, Derek’s tongue has acquired the power to lick the future.
2. Uncle Samsung
Deaf in one ear and not giving one butt sniff about it, Uncle Samsung treats himself to regular spa days where a dip in the pool actually helps him keep his creaky old joints in working order.
3. Marnie the dog
Marnie the Shih Tzu doesn’t let his 12 years get in the way of “living la vida loca” — in fact, his party wisdom makes him revered in his hometown of New York City. He also likes watermelon and walks, but he does not like doggy style.
4. Golden Woofs’ Sugar
We’ve mentioned sweet Sugar on here before, whose zest for life keeps her out walking the trails and making sure that everyone picks up their dogs’ poop. There’s nothing Sugar loves more than a big, ripe banana and or delicious homemade treat.
