All Month: Howling Hounds Exhibit
Find fascinating exhibits at the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog — one of the largest repositories of canine art in the world. This month, check out the Howling Hounds exhibit — fine art pieces that pay tribute to our beloved hound dogs — located in the Main Hall Gallery of the museum. While there, peruse the museum’s first-ever dog-and-cat exhibit, Fr-enemies. Both exhibits end September 30th. More at museumofthedog.org.
Tuesday, September 4: Paws on the Walk at the Anaheim GardenWalk
Share happy hour with your best furry friend at the Anaheim GardenWalk, an “entertainment” destination close steps away from Southern California’s Disneyland Resort and Anaheim Convention Center. The first Paws on the Walk Happy Hour program runs from 4 to 7 p.m. on the upper level patio at the House of Blues Restaurant & Bar and features a special event-only Happy Hour menu. During September’s inaugural Paws on the Walk event, there’ll be a special photo opportunity for you and your furry pal that includes props and a VIP artificial turf “green carpet” for dogs to walk on while a photographer snaps complimentary keepsake pics. Humans will also be treated to henna tattoos. WAGS Pet Adoption and Anaheim Feed & Pet Supply will be on hand, too. More events to be announced, like a tour of the other GardenWalk restaurants and bars for future Paws on the Walk Gatherings. Sunday, September 9: Somerville Dog Festival
Woof it up during this full day of summer fun! Enjoy contests, demonstrations, shopping and food for both humans and canines. The annual free event not only raises funds for the Somerville Foundation for Animals’ pet food bank, it purchases one K9 protective vest for local K9 officers. The festival takes place rain or shine at Trum Field in Somerville, Massachusetts. Find out more at somdogfest.org.
Wednesday, September 12: Life in the Doghouse premieres
FilmRise’s documentary Life in the Doghouse tells inspiring stories of Danny Robertshaw and Ron Danta and the remarkable work they do at Danny & Ron’s Rescue. Ron and Danny have turned their life into a full-time rescue, with at least 60 dogs in their kennel-free shelter at one time. This film gives a frank, honest, and inspiring peek at our country’s pet overpopulation problem. Directed by Ron Davis (Harry and Snowman). See the movie trailer here.
Saturday, September 15 — Tuesday, September 18: Canine Camp Fall Getaway of NY

Monday, September 17: Detroit Tigers’ Bark at the Park

Saturday, September 29: 20th Annual Paws 4 Life Dog Walk
Come one, come all to this dog-friendly event supporting the Cancer Support Community of Greater Philadelphia’s mission to provide a free social environment to its members and the families of those with cancer. At least 500 humans and their four-legged friends will be in attendance. Join the walk, enter the contests, watch the entertainment and get a ticket for the amazing raffles. Help keep the programs free for people impacted by cancer. Event held at the Warminster Community Park. Go here for more information.
Saturday, September 29th: World’s Largest Pet Walk 2018
Pet Partners, a 40-year old therapy animal program organization, wants to dedicate a single day for pet parents and their friends to get outside and walk their pets. The inaugural event hopes to encourage people to get passionate about the health and well being of their pets plus strengthen the animal-human bond. Pet Partners also introduced its Walk With Me initiative in response to the Surgeon General’s call to action about walking for better health for those who’d like to organize a local event. Find a manual and starter kit for how to start that program online. To celebrate the World’s Largest Pet Walk 2018, grab your pet and some friends and print out these specially created race bibs to inspire other people. Sunday, September 30: Beach BBQ Bash Fundraiser
The non-profit, no-kill rescue group Tails of Hope is throwing a fundraising bash with lots of food, cocktails, games, gift basket auction, door prizes and entertainment for animal lovers. All the proceeds go to shelter, food, care and veterinary attention for our four-legged looking for their forever homes. Event takes place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Mr. C’s in Allenhurst, New Jersey.
