This dashcam video from Russia is one of the most intense things we’ve ever seen. A woman is driving down a dark, snowy road. Out of nowhere, a dog leaps on the road and dashes across! The woman — she hits the brakes. We hear a bang. Oh no! It’s our worst nightmare.
The dog, the poor thing, is he … is he … IS HE DEAD???
Just watch the video.
Hi again!
Sorry if we scared you, but Subaru did it first. Besides, this ad is going viral (five million views thus far), and we wanted you to have the full viral OMG experience — plus, the dog got a Subaru XV Crosstrek out of the deal.
According to Yahoo news, this ad is for Subaru’s Russia division, and it makes very good use of the current Russian dashcam craze — along with the reason for all those dashcams: Pedestrians who jump in front of and on top of cars, pretending to get hit, to collect on insurance money.
Fortunately, all went okay. And while we’re not thrilled about the fact that Subaru decided to stage a dog getting hit by a car for a commercial, we are happy to know that the company at least had the good sense to have the woman stop the car, rush out to check on the dog, and then stand off to one side, dazed and mourning the pooch.
But we’re happier that the dog was okay and got a Subaru.
