If you live in New York and use the online dating app Tinder, you might be wondering: What’s up with all the dogs? Also: Can I really adopt one?

Yes you can, New York single person. Just swipe right and make a match, the same as thousands of your peers are doing, because damn, if adopting a snuggly dog isn’t better than finding true love in this great big city.

The dogs started showing up this week, thanks to a bit of genius by three interns (yay, interns) at the New York ad agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty, according to the New York Daily News. As part of a company competition, they teamed up with New York-based animal rescue organization Social Tees, creating profiles of their dogs and putting them on the dating app. They tweaked the dogs’ ages so they would show up in the human matches.

“Your doghouse or mine?” announces one profile.

“The dogs have love to give, and people on Tinder are looking for love anyway,” intern Alexis Mood told the Daily News. “It seemed like the perfect setup.”

Swipe “yes” on a dog and you get a link to the rescue, with info on adopting, which requires the usual background checks and paperwork. Social Tees is also encouraging people to foster the dogs for two weeks before adopting.

Ten dogs were put on the site on July 31, and they generated more than 2,500 matches by the following Monday. So far, according to the Daily News, three dogs have been adopted.

“We wanted to do something good and beneficial that made an impact,” Mood told CNN.
