Yesterday the Huffington Post alerted us to a story about a dog who looked like a little boy. Sure enough, we had a little “whoa” moment. Did you just have one? We’re still feeling it.
Of course, we often see human features in dogs, but this is … whoa. There it goes again.
This little fellow’s name is Tonik, a Poodle–Shih Tzu mix, and he’s available for adoption from the Homeward Bound Animal Welfare Group in Mishawaka, IN.
The good news is that he was taken from a kill shelter in Kentucky and given safe haven in Homeward Bound, a no-kill rescue. Homeward Bound seems to know the prize it had on its hands; the Petfinder description reads, “there is a very sweet boy in there who is trying to figure things out and enjoy people.”
But this is not the dog for someone who just wants a dog who looks like a little boy. Tonik needs a caring home.
“It seems he has not had too much socialization,” continues the description. “He is great with other dogs. He is not dangerous but should not be placed with young children because he will get too overwhelmed. He will need a home with lots of patience and good energy.”
Also, maybe he won’t look like a little boy anymore, because “he has been professionally groomed since his photos were taken.”
Those pictures, by the way, were taken by Renny Mills, a professional pet photographer. Tonik is available for adoption for a $250 donation, and he must be picked up at Homeward Bound, as the rescue does not ship dogs.
Who does Tonik look like to you? An Ewok? Jerry Mathers as the Beaver? We can’t put a finger on it. The more we look at him, the more he just looks like a little dog who needs a good home. And maybe a Facebook page.
