An Ohio woman watched as a neighbor sauntered up to her lawn with his dog, let his dog poop, and moved on without cleaning it up.

She confronted the man, who said he didn’t have a bag. The woman got him one, and he dutifully picked it up. Then he had a change of heart and flung it on her driveway, splattering the contents of the bag and making a stinking mess.

This did not sit well with the woman, who picked up a handful of the stuff (!) and flung it at the neighbor, hitting him in the back of the neck.

Thenext day the woman found a bag of poop hanging from a tree in her yard. Police got involved and advised both neighbors to knock it off, but no arrests were made.

This incident, which took place in aptly named Chagrin Falls, is just one of many dog-poop-anger events I’ve written about on the blog. From the sidelines it’s rather amusing to see the same patterns unfold time after time. Offending dog poop often leads to poop being flung or poop hanging from bags. They’re kind of copycat crimes, even though the people involved have probably never heard of what others have done in similar circumstances. These are just gut reactions.

Of course being there would be no laughing matter. Bad dog-poop etiquette can bring out the beast in people.

What would you do if you caught someone letting their dog poop on your lawn and not cleaning it up? If you’ve been through this before (or found it the hard way later) what steps have you taken?
