Earlier today we reported on the devastating news of Rosie the Chihuahua’s departure from this world to the Rainbow Bridge. If you are unfamiliar with Rosie’s story, she is a testament to a dog’s capacity for kindness and forgiveness in the face of the most horrific circumstances. Discovered during a backyard breeder rescue operation, Rosie emerged as one of its greatest victims: deformed through inbreeding and gravely ill from negligence, her photos rocked the dog-loving community.
Touched by her story, Cinnamon Muhlbauer adopted the little dog with full knowledge of what an undertaking it would be. Owning Rosie was nothing like owning other dogs — she required extensive and expensive medical treatment just to stabilize her, and would require treatment throughout her life.
However, despite her origins, Rosie thrived in a circle of light and love, and was embraced on the Internet by thousands of fans. Upon the news of Rosie’s death, her fans have rallied to offer comfort, support, and gratitude. Among the tributes is Michelle Morgan’s video — which you should definitely not watch without a tissue.
