Meet Tiny Beyonce, the world’s smallest puppy who beat the world’s biggest odds. Beyonce and her family almost became another one of the US’ despairing pet overpopulation statistics when her very pregnant mama was turned in to a shelter in San Bernardino, California. Like many pregnant animals that wind up in the pound, Beyonce’s mom was slated for euthanasia, but was rescued by Beth of the Grace Foundation of Northern California. But Beyonce wasn’t out of the woods yet!

An ultrasound revealed four healthy puppies and a fifth runt that the vet declared nonviable. Beyonce was born without a breath in her little body, but Beth performed mouth to mouth resuscitation, and brought Beyonce back from the dead. Like one of her namesake’s songs, she truly is a survivor! And like her namesake, this pint-sized pup is now a world famous celebrity!

Weighing a mere four ounces, Beyonce’s entire body can fit on the surface of an iPhone, giving a brand new meaning to the term “tea cup” – in fact, she was so small when she was born that she could sit in a teaspoon! Despite her diminutive size, Beyonce has already proved her larger-than-life (Literally!) strength, and you know what they say…the best things come in the smallest packages.

While we love this story of triumph in the face of all odds, we wish it never had to come to this! Millions of dogs are unfortunately destroyed each year. If you’re considering a new dog, make sure you’re ready for it, so we can prevent near-tragedies like this from ever happening!
