It took me a while to settle on the right food bowl for my dog, Dolly. As a puppy, she used the bright-red plastic one I bought her as a chew toy. The lovely ceramic bowl I tried next slipped from my hands one morning, breaking to pieces on our tile kitchen floor. By the time Spot arrived, I had decided that boring stainless steel would work just fine.
Turns out, I can combine the durability of stainless steel with stylish design thanks to elevated feeders such as the one up for grabs as this week’s Friday Freebie. The ModernMews Feeder from Zoe Pet Supply gets its inspiration from the iconic Eames side table, introduced in the 1950s but still popular today.
ModernMews, a mom-and-pop shop in Seattle, makes the feeders by hand using Baltic birch plywood, high-pressure laminate, and welded steel. They hold two 1-pint stainless-steel bowls at a height better for your pet’s comfort and health. The bowls come out to go through the dishwasher, and the laminate surface cleans easily with a damp cloth.
